First time ever, a woman officer leads guard of honour at Rashtrapathi Bhavan
First time ever, a woman officer (Wing Commander Pooja Thakur) leads guard of honour at Rashtrapathi Bhavan. This is remarkable new beginning for India, a nation where sons and daughters walk matching shoulder to shoulder.
In a interview to NDTV when asked about, till two days ago she wasn’t aware that this honour would fall upon her, she said; I am going to do it 100% and put in my 100%. I guess that’s what we all do all the time. We are prepared at all times.
Wing Commander Pooja Thakur joined the Indian Air Force in 2000, belongs to the administrative branch and is currently posted at ‘Disha’, the publicity cell under the Directorate of Personnel Officers at the Air Force Headquarters.
