The Famous Ganga Aatri at Dashashwamedh Ghat, Varanasi

The Ganga Aaatri got a much needed attention when India’s PM Designate Narendra Modi went to attend the Aartri Ceremony after his win. The event was telecasted live by main stream india and got world wide coverage.

We bring a small glimpse of Ganga Aatri, it should be on your “To Do” list.

The Ganga Aaatri takes place at Dashashwamedh Ghat, the main ghat in Varanasi on the Ganges River. It is located close to “Vishwanath Temple” and is probably the most spectacular ghat. Two Hindu mythologies are associated with it: According to one, Lord Brahmacreated it to welcome Lord Shiva. According to another legend, Lord Brahma sacrificed ten horses during Dasa -Ashwamedha yajna performed here.
